Rev. Jennie Sankey, Associate Pastor
With a passion for walking alongside people on their journeys of faith, Jennie serves as the Associate Pastor. She brings a wealth of experience in teaching, preaching, children’s and youth ministry, and leading retreats and service trips. She serves the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta through committee work and contributes to various PC(USA) publications.

In her role as Associate Pastor, Jennie is responsible for the faith formation of children, youth, and adults, supporting the mission and outreach efforts of the congregation, collaborating on worship planning and leadership, and sharing in the pastoral care of the congregation.

Jennie is deeply rooted in the love and support of her family. Her partner Steve is also an ordained minister who serves as a Hospital Chaplain, teaches 3rd-5th grade church school at PHPC, and brings Jennie everything she left at home on Sunday mornings. Jennie and Steve take great delight in their daughter Annie, and care for two very lucky dogs, Bob and Athena. Jennie enjoys reading fiction, traveling with her friends, making music, learning to paint with watercolor, and long Sunday afternoon naps, finding joy and balance in these pursuits.

Jennie holds a bachelor’s degree with a double major in Music Performance (oboe) and Christian Education. She furthered her theological education at Columbia Theological Seminary where she received a Master of Divinity.

Jennie loves partnering in ministry at Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church with their work of expansive welcome and compassionate care. She has a special interest in engaging children and their families in the worshipping life of the church. Jennie also enjoys the “generalist” nature of her work with PHPC, where the variety of work she does is a constant source of excitement and inspiration as she continues to walk alongside the congregation on their spiritual journeys.

One of Jennie’s favorite scriptures is the story of two disciples on the road to Emmaus after Jesus’ resurrection, which holds deep personal significance. She is also inspired by the community of her spiritual direction group, the works of theologian Karoline Lewis, poet Ross Gay, and activist Valarie Kaur, which continue to shape her spiritual journey and ministry approach.
